Recyclables – the world’s 7th major resource

The “reuse of resources vs. processing virgin materials” debate is becoming increasingly heated as societies are transiting towards smart-cities. Our stand at Cycled is obvious: we believe that the sustenance of any smart-city is dependent on the circularity of its economy, and recycling solutions will be a key driver towards a truly circular economy.

A recent article in the online paper THE NATION– “Recycling to contribute $400b to global GDP” buttresses our stand by pinpointing the huge environmental, economic, and social improvement aspects of recycling. “We want to show the world that there is a 7th Resource, as economically viable as, and more sustainable than, the six key primary resources: air, water, oil, natural gas, minerals and coal” said Ranjit Baxi, the President of Bureau of International Recycling (BIR).

This will “enhance the perception of recycling as a means of creating a clean and sustainable environment for us and for future generations,” he continued.

At Cycled Technologies, we are doing our part in developing recycling strategies for smart cities by simplifying the steps required to convert waste to a commodity ready for reuse. Starting with the most critical step, waste collection, our blockchain powered platform creates a direct connection between waste owners and collectors, and then makes the interaction financially rewarding for both parties. Downstream, our R&D efforts are being used to develop advanced recycling facilities and strategies that would ensure substantial wealth is being created from the waste stream we collect – in order to shift the paradigm from waste to resource.
